If you’ve set a video to Autoplay and it starts silently, nothing is broken.
Why it’s muted
Browsers refuse to start a video with sound the viewer didn’t ask for. So when Autoplay is set to YES, WP Lead Player starts the video muted. That’s the browser’s rule, not a choice the plugin makes, and it applies to uploaded files, streams, YouTube and Vimeo alike.
How viewers get the sound
Viewers unmute the video with the speaker button on the control bar. If you’ve set Hide Controls to YES, there’s no control bar to unmute from, so think twice before combining the two.
If you want sound from the first second
Set Autoplay to NO and let viewers press play. A video the viewer starts themselves plays with sound.
Autoplay and an opt-in form at the start
Autoplay plus an opt-in form at the very Beginning asks people to sign up before they’ve seen anything. That’s usually the lowest-converting arrangement there is. Let the video earn some trust first – the Retention screen suggests a better moment (see Choosing where to put your opt-in).
Still not playing at all?
If the video doesn’t start even muted, see Troubleshooting: video won’t save or play.
