You’ll want to see your opt-in form the way a visitor does before you share a page. Here’s how to do it cleanly.
Use a private window
Open the page in a private or incognito window. You’ll be treated as a brand new visitor, and closing the window forgets everything. See Resetting your browser to test like a new visitor for the shortcuts.
Why the form disappears after you sign up
When you submit the form, a marker is saved in your browser for a year. With Smart gating switched on, that makes WP Lead Player treat you as an existing subscriber and skip the form. If you’re logged in to WordPress, your account email is also checked against your leads. So test logged out, in a private window.
Your own plays count
Every play is counted on the Retention screen, including yours while you set the video up. Expect the first few figures on a new video to be mostly you, and use a private window while testing.
Removing your test lead
You can remove a test sign-up from WP Lead Player › Leads. That doesn’t clear anything in your browser, so clear that too, or you’ll still be treated as a subscriber.
Testing a split test
Each visitor is kept on the same version for good. To see the other version, use a fresh private window – you may need a few tries, as versions are shared out between visitors.
A quick checklist
- Open the page in a private window, logged out.
- Check the form appears at the right point.
- Sign up with a test email.
- Check the lead appears in WP Lead Player › Leads.
- If you use an integration, check Recent deliveries on the Integrations screen.
- Remove the test lead if you don’t want it in your list.
