System requirements and what to check before installing

Run through this list before you install, and WP Lead Player will work first time.

The essentials

  • WordPress 6.3 or newer.
  • PHP 8.0 or newer.
  • MySQL 5.6 or newer, or MariaDB 10.1 or newer.
  • No unusual PHP extensions are needed.
  • Administrator access to your dashboard.

The one nobody writes down: WP-Cron

WordPress runs scheduled jobs through WP-Cron. WP Lead Player uses it for two things:

  • the nightly summary of viewing data behind the Retention screen, and
  • the automatic retrying of a lead delivery that failed.

If WP-Cron isn’t running, both stop silently. Your leads are still saved, but retention figures stop updating and failed deliveries aren’t retried. Nothing warns you.

How to tell if WP-Cron is working

  1. Go to Tools › Site Health in your dashboard. WordPress flags a problem there if scheduled events are being missed.
  2. Ask your host whether DISABLE_WP_CRON is set on your site. If it is, that’s fine, as long as a real system cron job is calling wp-cron.php regularly instead. Your host can set that up.

Themes, builders and caching

WP Lead Player works with any theme, with the block editor, Elementor and any builder that accepts shortcodes, and behind caching plugins. See Requirements and compatibility for the details.

Not sure?

Open a ticket on the support page on ABC. Tell us your WordPress version, PHP version, theme and page builder, and we’ll confirm it’ll work.
