Building your own form design

The Form Designs builder lets you change every part of a form and save it as your own design.

Start a design

  1. Go to WP Lead Player › Form Designs.
  2. Click Start from this on the built-in design closest to what you want, or click New design.

The eight built-in designs can’t be edited, so a design you build is a copy and the original is always there to go back to. Your saved designs appear under Your designs.

The settings

Name – what you’ll see in the list when choosing a design for a video.

Layout – Card, Panel, left, Panel, right, Inline, Sheet, top or Sheet, bottom. The bottom sheet deliberately covers the player controls.

The panel
– Background, Text, Secondary text
– Border – a full CSS border, for example 3px solid #14110c. Use 0 for none.
– Corner radius
– Padding – top/bottom then left/right, for example 30px 28px.
– Width – ignored by the sheet layouts, which are always full width.
– Shadow – a CSS box-shadow, or none.

Type
– Typeface – Whatever the site theme uses (recommended), System sans-serif, Monospaced or Serif. There’s no web-font picker on purpose: loading a font from Google on your visitor’s behalf is an unsettled GDPR question in the EU.
– Alignment – Left, Centred or Right.
– Headline size, Headline weight (Normal to Extra bold), Headline letter spacing (normal, or a value like -.02em to tighten), Body size.

The fields – Background, Text, Border colour, Border width, Corner radius, Height.

The button – Colour, Text, Corner radius, Height, Weight, Capitals (As typed or ALL CAPS), Letter spacing.

Behind the form
– Tint over the video – usually a see-through colour, for example rgba(9,13,19,.62).
– Blur the video – 0px for none.
– Play button background and Play button symbol.

Use the preview

The Preview is the real form, styled by the real stylesheet, so what you see is what visitors get. Switch between 320px, 480px, 640px and 900px widths. Try the narrow ones: the form shrinks itself rather than scrolling, so the Join button is never below the fold.

Save and use it

  1. Click Save design (or Cancel to leave without saving).
  2. Pick it under Form design on a video’s Opt-In tab, or as the site default in WP Lead Player › Settings.
