Troubleshooting: my leads aren’t reaching my email tool

0  comments

First, the good news: every lead is saved in WordPress before it’s sent anywhere. If it’s on the Leads screen, it’s safe. This article is for when leads are in WordPress but not arriving in your email tool. (If they’re not on the Leads screen at all, see Troubleshooting: opt-in form not showing.)

Check Recent deliveries

Go to WP Lead Player › Integrations and look at Recent deliveries. Each attempt shows the connection, the time and the outcome:

  • a status code if the receiving end replied, for example 404 (wrong address) or 500 (a problem at their end);
  • an error message, such as a timeout or a DNS failure, if the request couldn’t be made at all;
  • for a queued delivery, how many attempts have been made.

If it says Nothing sent yet, check the connection is ticked and you clicked Save Changes.

How retries work

A failed delivery is retried automatically up to six times, waiting 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours and then 6 hours. After the sixth failure it stops trying.

Automatic retries run on WP-Cron. If WP-Cron isn’t running, failed deliveries won’t be retried at all – see System requirements and what to check before installing.

Send them again now

Fix the cause, then click try again now on the Integrations screen. It ignores the waits and attempts everything still queued.

Common causes

  • The webhook address has changed, or the Zap, scenario or workflow is switched off.
  • A signing secret that doesn’t match at the receiving end.
  • A FluentCRM list or tag entered as a name instead of its ID.

See Troubleshooting: webhook or integration test failing for step-by-step checks. The webhook is the recommended route for any email tool.
