WP Lead Player FAQ

Will it work with my theme and page builder?

Yes. Add a player with the Lead Player Video block, the Lead Player Video Elementor widget, or a shortcode such as , which works in Thrive Architect, Divi and other builders. Forms use your theme’s own typeface, so they look like part of your site.

What do I need to run it?

WordPress 6.3 or newer and PHP 8.0 or newer. WP-Cron also needs to be running, because retention summaries and delivery retries depend on it.

Do I need to host my own videos?

No. You can use YouTube, Vimeo, your own uploaded files, or a streaming service such as Bunny Stream or Cloudflare Stream.

Can I see which ad or campaign a subscriber came from?

Yes. The plugin records the campaign tags in the link a visitor first arrived on, and the site that sent them, even if they sign up on a different page later in the same visit. You’ll see it in the Visit source column on the Leads screen.

Does it work with Google Analytics or the Meta pixel?

Yes, if your site already uses them. Switch it on under Send events to in WP Lead Player › Settings. The plugin never adds a tracker by itself.

Does it work with my caching plugin?

Yes. WP Lead Player works behind caching plugins such as LiteSpeed, WP Rocket and Cloudflare. If the player doesn’t load, check any “delay JavaScript” setting first (see Troubleshooting: opt-in form not showing).

How do subscribers reach my email tool?

Every subscriber is saved in WordPress first, then sent on through a webhook (the recommended route, which works with Zapier, Make and n8n), FluentCRM or Mailchimp. You can also email your lists with the built-in newsletter.

What if my email service goes down?

Nothing is lost. The lead is already saved in WordPress, and the plugin retries automatically up to six times over several hours.

Won’t a form in my video annoy people?

You decide when it appears and whether it can be skipped, and the Retention screen suggests the best moment to ask. With Smart gating on, people who’ve already signed up aren’t asked again.

Why is there no Google Fonts option?

On purpose. Loading a font from Google on your visitor’s behalf is an unsettled GDPR question in the EU, so forms use your theme’s font or a system font.

What happens when my licence expires?

The plugin keeps working and your subscribers stay where they are. You stop receiving updates and support until you renew.

Can I use it on a staging or local site?

Yes. The licence only provides updates and support; it never locks the plugin, so staging and local copies work without using up a site on your plan.

Can I get a refund?

If something isn’t working for you, please open a ticket on the support page on ABC first – we’ll do our best to help. Refund terms are on the Terms & refunds page on wpleadplayer.com.

Why is my video silent?

Because it’s set to autoplay. Browsers refuse to start a video with sound the viewer didn’t ask for, so an autoplaying video always starts muted – viewers unmute it with the control bar. If you want sound from the first second, turn autoplay off and let them press play.

My YouTube link won’t save, or saves and shows nothing

Only four address shapes work: youtube.com/watch?v=..., youtu.be/..., youtube.com/embed/... and youtube.com/v/.... Anything after the video ID breaks it – including youtu.be/abc123?t=5, which is what YouTube gives you when you copy a link with Start at ticked. Shorts and youtube.com/live links aren’t supported. Use a link with nothing after the video ID.

Where do I import a CSV of existing subscribers?

Inside a list, not on the Subscriber List screen. Go to Subscriber List, open the list you want, and Import via CSV is at the top next to Add new. Put names in the first column and email addresses in the second.

Can I stop viewers pausing the video?

Set Allow Pause to NO. The pause button stays on the control bar, but the video starts again the instant they press it, rather than the button disappearing.

Why can’t I see my own opt-in form any more?

Because you filled it in. Signing up stores a marker in your browser, and with Smart gating switched on that makes the plugin treat you as an existing subscriber. Open the page in a private or incognito window to see what a new visitor sees – this is the most common “the form has stopped working” report. See Resetting your browser to test like a new visitor.

Do my own views show up in the statistics?

Yes. Every play is counted, including yours while you’re setting the video up. Use a private window while testing if you care about the numbers, and expect the first few figures on a new video to be mostly you.

Does the split test pick the winner automatically?

No, deliberately. It shows which version is converting better once both have been seen by around a hundred viewers each, and leaves the decision to you. To adopt the winner, copy its wording into the main Headline and Text fields and untick Split test.

Will a members-only video still appear in Google?

Yes. The video’s SEO data is published whether or not the video itself is restricted, so people can find the page and are then asked to log in. For a course that’s usually what you want. If not, switch Video SEO off under Settings.

Does the viewer watermark work for visitors who aren’t logged in?

No. The watermark writes the viewer’s own email over the video, so it can only appear for someone the site knows. Pair it with Who can watch set to Logged-in users only.

Why did my newsletter go out with no unsubscribe link?

Because the {unsubscribe} tag wasn’t in the content. The link is created where you put that tag. Put {unsubscribe} at the foot of every newsletter you write.

Can I send how much of the video someone watched to my CRM?

Not through the integrations at the moment. The watch percentage is recorded against every lead, shown on the Leads screen and included in the CSV export, so you can segment on it there.

Does someone count as a lead if they skip the form?

No. Skipping records nothing – a lead only exists once an email address has been submitted. The Retention screen shows how many were shown the form against how many filled it in.

Can I put two videos on the same page?

Yes, and they behave independently, with separate forms and separate statistics. One thing is shared on purpose: the corner a video docks into when it follows the viewer down the page is a site-wide setting, so two videos can’t dock to opposite corners and collide.

How long is campaign information remembered?

For that visit to your site. Someone arriving on an advert link can browse several pages and still sign up with the original campaign attached. If they close the tab and come back tomorrow, that visit starts fresh.

Do I need a Facebook Application ID?

Only if you’re using the Facebook share button in Social Lock. X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Pinterest need nothing set up.

What’s coming next?

WP Lead Player is actively maintained, and your licence pays for updates, security hardening, new features and upkeep. See What’s new in WP Lead Player for what’s changed in each release.

Still stuck? Open a ticket on the support page on ABC and a real person will help.
