Social Lock asks viewers to share your video before they carry on watching. It’s a simple way to get more people to your page.
Set it up
- Open the video and click the Social Lock tab.
- Set Include Social Lock to YES.
- Choose the Location: Beginning, Middle or End. For Middle, enter the point in the Seconds box.
- Under URL to Share, choose:
- Page – the page the video is on.
- Custom – type a different address in the box.
- Set Allow Skipping to YES to let viewers skip, or NO to require a share.
- Add a Pinterest Image with the file picker, used when someone shares to Pinterest.
- Write your message in Text, for example “Share this video to keep watching”.
- Style it with Social Background (Background Image or Background Color), Social Background Opacity (Yes or No) and Social Button Background, plus the button colour pickers.
- Click SAVE AND CLOSE.
Which networks?
Five share buttons appear: Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Pinterest. Pinterest opens its own pin window and uses the Pinterest Image you set.
Only the Facebook button needs a Facebook Application ID, entered in WP Lead Player › Settings. X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Pinterest are plain share links and need nothing set up. If you’re not offering Facebook sharing, you can ignore the setting. To get an ID, create an app at developers.facebook.com.
