These settings sit at the top of the Video Settings tab. They help you protect members-only content and make your videos easier to follow.
Who can watch
- Open the video and go to the Video Settings tab.
- Under Who can watch, choose:
- Anyone – every visitor can play it.
- Logged-in users only – only people logged in to your WordPress site can play it.
Logged-in users only hides the video itself, not just the page, so the file can’t be shared by copying the embed.
Logged-out visitors see a bordered panel reading “This video is for members.” with a Log in to watch button, which brings them back to the same page after logging in. The video isn’t put on the page at all, so for an uploaded file the address can’t be lifted out of the page source. This is real protection, not something hidden with CSS. On YouTube and Vimeo the video still exists publicly at its own address.
Viewer watermark
Tick Show the viewer’s own email over the video under Watermark.
This discourages recording and re-sharing, because any copy carries the name of whoever made it. It only works for logged-in viewers, since the plugin needs to know who they are. A public video shown to visitors who aren’t logged in won’t carry a watermark, whatever the setting says, so pair it with Who can watch set to Logged-in users only.
Captions file
- Create a WebVTT (.vtt) captions file. Most transcription tools can export one.
- Upload it to your Media Library or anywhere public, and copy its address.
- Paste the address into Captions file, for example
https://example.com/captions.vtt.
Viewers get subtitles they can switch on, and search engines get something to read.
Chapters file
- Create a WebVTT file of chapter markers (a .vtt file where each cue is a chapter title).
- Paste its address into Chapters file, for example
https://example.com/chapters.vtt.
A clickable chapter strip appears underneath the player, with the current chapter highlighted as the video plays. Clicking a chapter jumps straight to it.
Save
Click SAVE AND CLOSE or SAVE AND CONTINUE EDIT.
