The built-in newsletter lets you write and schedule emails to your subscriber lists, straight from WordPress.
Create a newsletter
- Go to WP Lead Player › Newsletter (headed Manage Newsletter).
- Click Create Newsletter.
- Enter a Title, write the email in the content editor, and set a Schedule Date.
- Save it.
You can use three merge tags in the content: {name}, {email} and {unsubscribe}.
Your newsletters are listed with their Title, Schedule Date and Schedule Status. Before you’ve made one, the list says No items found.
Always include {unsubscribe} in your newsletter – it becomes a working unsubscribe link for each recipient. The link only appears where you’ve typed the tag, so put it at the foot of every newsletter.
Set the email throttle
Many hosts limit how many emails your site can send per hour. To stay under that limit:
- Go to WP Lead Player › Settings.
- Enter a number in Email throttle hourly limit.
- Click SAVE.
The throttle is how many emails go out each time the scheduled send runs. Anything over the limit stays queued and goes out on the next run, so nothing is dropped. If you leave the box blank, 20 are sent per run.
Good to know
For large lists, a dedicated email service such as FluentCRM with an SMTP provider, will usually deliver more reliably. See How integrations work and what gets sent.
