Adding your first video

WP Lead Player can play your own videos, streams from services like Bunny Stream and Cloudflare Stream, Vimeo or YouTube, and put the player on any page. This guide shows you how to add a video and place the player.

Step 1: Pick your video source

On the Video Settings tab, under Video Sources, choose one of:

  • File or stream URL – an MP4 or WebM file you upload, a link to one, or an .m3u8 stream link from Bunny Stream, Cloudflare Stream or a similar service
  • Vimeo Video
  • YouTube Video

Using Bunny Stream, Cloudflare Stream or another streaming service

Choose File or stream URL and paste the video’s .m3u8 playlist link into Video Url. You’ll find this link in your streaming service’s dashboard, usually labelled HLS or playlist URL. WP Lead Player recognises the stream link and, in browsers that can’t play streams on their own, loads a stream player automatically.

You don’t need to host your own videos. A YouTube or Vimeo link is the quickest way to start.

Step 2: Create the video

  1. In your dashboard, go to WP Lead Player › Add Video.
  2. On the Video Settings tab, fill in Video Title with a name you’ll recognise later, such as “Pricing walkthrough”. This name appears in your Leads and Retention reports.
  3. Choose your source under Video Sources. Then paste the link into Video Url, or upload an MP4 or WebM file. For a stream, paste the .m3u8 link and it’s detected automatically.
  4. Optional: set the startup thumbnail (the picture shown before play).
  5. Click SAVE AND CLOSE, or SAVE AND CONTINUE EDIT to keep working on it.

Step 3: Choose the player settings

Each video has its own settings on the Video Settings tab:

  1. Video Size – set the player’s Width and Height, for example 640 and 360. You need both, along with a video URL or upload, before the video will save.
  2. Autoplay – YES to start playing on its own. Browsers refuse to start a video with sound the viewer didn’t ask for, so an autoplaying video always starts muted. Viewers can unmute it from the control bar.
  3. Hide Controls – YES to hide the play bar.
  4. Allow Pause – whether viewers can pause. With NO, the pause button stays, but the video starts again straight away if pressed.
  5. Sticky player – choose Yes — follow the viewer down the page to dock the video in a corner as visitors scroll, so they’re still watching when your form appears.

Optional extras on the same tab:

  1. Who can watch – Anyone or Logged-in users only.
  2. Watermark (viewer watermark) – tick Show the viewer’s own email over the video.
  3. Captions file and Chapters file (WebVTT) – add captions and chapters.

Step 4: Put the player on a page

Use whichever suits your site:

  1. Block editor – add the Lead Player Video block and choose your video.
  2. Elementor – when Elementor is active, drag in the Lead Player Video widget and choose your video. It works exactly like the block and the shortcode.
  3. Shortcode – go to WP Lead Player › Manage Videos, copy the video’s shortcode from the Short Code column, for example , and paste it into any page. This works in Thrive Architect, Divi and other page builders.
  4. Another site – to show the player on a site that isn’t WordPress, click the Embed Code button next to the video in WP Lead Player › Manage Videos. This copies the embed code, and you can paste it into any web page.

Step 5: Preview and test

  1. Preview the page and play the video.
  2. Check it on your phone too.

Handy extras

  • Your logo – this is set once for all your videos. Go to WP Lead Player › Settings › Your logo and choose the Corner, Width (px) and Opacity (%).
  • Viewers are remembered – volume, speed and caption choices carry over between videos and visits.
  • Next step – add an opt-in form so viewers can join your list (see Adding an opt-in form to a video).
